Steeves & Rozema says it will match employee donations to Inn of the Good Shepherd

By DERON HAMEL

In an effort to once again live its mission of "creating communities that are good for life," the Steeves & Rozema Group is offering team members at head office and at all Sarnia property sites the opportunity to voluntarily donate to the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Steeves & Rozema is committed to matching every donation to the adult and family emergency shelter dollar for dollar. The initiative will begin in autumn and since the program is completely voluntary, employees must contact head office to formally request that a portion of their pay cheque be donated to the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

The program is slated to begin after Steeves & Rozema's 50th anniversary celebrations in September. The company will be sending information packages to employees in the Sarnia area within the next few weeks.

This isn't the first time Steeves & Rozema has undertaken this type of initiative; the organization currently has a similar companywide program with the United Way.

Executive assistant Marci Palframan explains why Steeves & Rozema chose the Inn of the Good Shepherd, which provides supports to adults and families facing emergency situations.

"This (program) fits in with (the theme of) 'creating communities that are good for life', and the Inn of the Good Shepherd has really had to meet a lot more needs with economic downturn," she says.

In March, Steeves & Rozema collected more than 2,600 cans of food for the Inn of the Good Shepherd as part of the annual CANstruction food drive.
